Sumter Co, FL (October 10, 2020) – Two teenagers died in a car accident along US-301 in Sumter County on Saturday, October 10th.
Officers from the Florida Highway Patrol reported that a 19-year-old man from Summerfield and his 18-year-old female passenger were heading northbound on US-301 at a high rate of speed at about 8:00 a.m.
As they neared the CR-216 intersection, the driver lost control of the vehicle and swerved across the median and into oncoming traffic, where they collided with a truck.
Both teenagers died during the accident. According to law enforcement on the scene, both victims were wearing their seatbelts.
The two occupants of the truck sustained minor injuries.
