Mims, FL (October 11, 2020) – On Saturday, October 10, a fatal pedestrian accident took place at an intersection in Mims.
Police confirmed that the accident took place at US-1 and Gloria Avenue when a 37-year-old woman was walking north in the area and was struck in the back by a vehicle.
When the vehicle struck the unidentified woman, she was thrown into a ditch on the side of the road. The driver fled the scene of the accident.
Police believe that the accident took place around 12:15 a.m. They are not sure about the exact time, as the driver of the vehicle did not stay at the scene and the woman’s body was discovered off the side of the road.
Florida Highway Patrol continues its investigation into the accident.
