Wildwood, FL (November 5, 2020) – Around 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday morning, November 3, a bicycle accident with injuries occurred in Wildwood.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident took place on the Hillsborough Trail near the area of Shale Trail Loop. A 61-year-old man was riding his bicycle in the area when a vehicle entered the golf cart lane for reasons that are not yet known. The vehicle struck the bicyclist from behind and then fled the scene.
The bicyclist was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. His condition is not yet known.
The vehicle that struck the bicyclist was identified only as a 2003 Jaguar. A witness was able to get its license plate number but a description of the driver is not given.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
