Sanford, FL (November 18, 2020) – Around 6:35 a.m. on Monday morning, November 16, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred at an intersection in Sanford.
The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that the collision took place at the intersection of Longwood Markham Road and Via Bonita Street when an SUV struck a pedestrian. The driver of the SUV claimed that they did not see the pedestrian in the marked crosswalk until it was too late.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene of the accident. The 86-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Longwood Markham Road was blocked in both directions for several hours.
No further details have been released but police continue their investigation.
