Oviedo, FL (August 24, 2020) – Around 6:30 a.m. tomorrow morning, August 23, a fatal accident took place at an intersection in Oviedo.
The accident, according to police, took place at the intersection of Red Bug Lake Road and Slavia Road. A sedan was allegedly turning onto Bug Lake Road when an SUV collided with the vehicle.
Witnesses spoke with police and confirmed that the SUV ran through the red light at the intersection.
The driver of the sedan, identified as a 21-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the SUV, who was identified as a 49-year-old man from Oviedo, received serious injuries. Charges are currently pending against that driver.
Police blocked a portion of the roadway in the area so that they could clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
