Ocala, FL – Man Killed in Fatal Bicycle Accident on NE 25th Ave
Ocala, FL (August 12, 2020) – Last night, August 11, a man was killed in a fatal bicycle accident on a roadway in Ocala.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at Northeast 25th Avenue when a 58-year-old Ocala bicyclist was riding along the roadway around 9:35 p.m.
The man was traveling in the northbound travel lane of the roadway while an SUV was headed north at the same time. The driver of the SUV, who has not yet formally been identified, struck the rear of the bicycle.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene of the collision. The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in multiple lanes as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been provided. The investigation into the accident continues.
