Mascotte, FL (August 21, 2020) – Around 6:45 a.m. this morning, a woman was killed in a tragic truck accident at an intersection in Mascotte.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the collision took place at the intersection of FL-50 and Douglas Road when a 43-year-old woman was stopped at a stop sign. A semi-truck with concrete approached from another direction at the intersection. As the woman attempted to make a left turn onto FL-50, her vehicle was struck by the semi-truck.
Both of the vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged. Paramedics and fire crews responded to the scene where they found that both parties suffered from injuries. The unidentified woman was taken to the hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries while there. The driver of the truck suffered serious injuries and remains in the hospital at this time.
Lake County officials worked at the scene of the accident to clear the roadway. There were delays in the area for some time.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
