Umatilla, FL – Fatal Pedestrian Accident at FL-19 and Lake Smith Rd

Umatilla, FL (May 31, 2020) – Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that a woman was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Umatilla.

According to police, the 39-year-old woman was walking with another pedestrian near the intersection of FL-19 and Lake Smith Road at 8 p.m. last night, May 30. She was suddenly struck by the driver of a sedan, identified as a 29-year-old from Eustis.

The female pedestrian was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The pedestrian who was with her was not injured.

The driver remained at the scene and the roadway was closed in the area for several hours.

Police continue their investigation into the collision.
