Tampa, FL (September 3, 2020) – The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that two men were badly injured in a construction accident in Tampa.
The two men, who have only been identified as a 57-year-old and a 29-year-old man, were trapped for approximately 15 minutes when trusses fell on them while they were working at the construction site. At the time, they were working to build a home on Londonderry Drive. A loose truss began shifting and fell down because of its weight.
As the workers started to flee, many made it out but the two men were left behind. Two workers at the site held up the trusses as much as they could to keep some weight off of the victims until police arrived.
The 57-year-old man suffered from severe head trauma and lost consciousness multiple times until he was rescued. The other worker had a lump on his forehead and visible injuries on a leg.
The two men were eventually rescued when fire crews used saws to cut them out. Their current conditions are not yet known.
At this time, the investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
