Sanford, FL (May 25, 2020) – Around 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning, May 23, a fatal hit-and-run boating accident took place on Lake Monroe in Sanford.
According to witnesses who were present at the scene, they saw a fishing boat slam into a personal watercraft and then flee the scene. It was identified as a white fishing style boat about 18 feet in length. A male was operating the boat.
The man on the personal watercraft was identified as 43-year-old Reid McMenamy. He was taken to the hospital where he was tragically pronounced deceased.
Police confirmed that McMenamy’s injuries included lacerations, an open skull fracture, and a dislocated arm.
Police continue to search for the boater responsible for the accident. Their investigation is currently ongoing.
