Pine Castle, FL (September 21, 2020) – Around 6:10 a.m. on Monday morning, September 21, one person was injured in a Pine Castle train crash.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at the intersection of Lancaster Road and Orange Avenue on the railroad tracks. A 55-year-old woman was driving her sedan and started to make a turn. She turned right onto the railroad tracks, where her sedan became stuck for unknown reasons.
A SunRail train carrying 30 passengers was traveling through the area and struck the vehicle, causing an array of damages.
The woman was the only person injured in the accident. She was transported to the hospital for treatment but is expected to recover.
Nobody on the train was injured. Due to the severity of the accident and the need to clear the scene, there were delays to service for some time.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
