Pierson, FL (September 17, 2020) – Around 2:55 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, a fatal motorcycle accident took place at a Pierson intersection.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at the intersection of US-17 and East 4th Avenue when a motorcycle traveling south on US-17 collided with a pickup truck traveling in the same direction.
The pickup truck was in front of the motorcycle and as the pickup truck started to drastically slow down so that it could make a left turn onto East 4th Avenue, the motorcyclist was unable to stop in time and hit the rear end of the pickup truck. The motorcycle then veered into the northbound lanes of traffic and struck the front side of another pickup truck.
Paramedics were dispatched to the scene of the accident and transported the motorcyclist to the hospital. They were pronounced dead while there.
The drivers involved were not injured but remained at the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
