Ormond Beach, FL (September 20, 2020) – Around 2:20 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, one person was killed in a fatal collision in Ormond Beach.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash took place on FL-40 around the area of Pine Woods Road. An SUV was driving west on FL-40 as a pickup truck was heading east. The SUV entered a curve, which was when the vehicle went into the other lane of traffic. It struck the front of the pickup truck head-on.
The driver of the pickup truck, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Multiple people were injured as a result of the crash, including the driver of the SUV who was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. Their current conditions are not yet known.
All lanes of FL-40 were closed down for a period of time while police cleared the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
