Ocala, FL (April 25, 2020) – Around 5:23 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, April 23, one person was killed in a fatal accident at an Ocala intersection.
The victim was identified as 58-year-old Theresa Benedict, who was pronounced dead following the collision, which took place at the intersection of FL-40 and 10th Street.
The crash occurred when a Toyota Celica, being driven by 31-year-old Christopher Defelice, collided with a 2017 Freightliner, driven by 32-year-old Lenroy Forbes.
The Freightliner swerved into the other lane of traffic and struck Benedict’s vehicle head-on. Benedict was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Forbes had serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.
It is believed that there are possible charges pending. Police continue their investigation into the accident.
