Ocala, FL - Double Fatality on 49th Avenue Rd

Ocala, FL (October 31, 2020) – A 40-year-old woman and a child were killed during a car accident in Marion County on Friday, October 30th.

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol stated that the accident took place at about 8:00 p.m. on Northwest 100 Street, near NW 49 Avenue Road when a woman who was speeding down Northwest 100 Street swerved over the centerline and lost control of her vehicle.

When her car reached the shoulder of the roadway, it collided with a large tree, partially ejecting the woman. A rescue squad from Marion County Fire pronounced the woman dead at the scene. 

The other occupants of the vehicle, two small children who were not buckled up, sustained critical injuries during the collision. Both children were transported to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment.

One of the children has since passed away from their injuries. The other remains in critical condition. 

Troopers stated that everyone inside the sedan was unbuckled at the time of the accident.
