Merritt Island, FL (October 24, 2020) – Two motorcyclists collided with a vehicle as it attempted to make a turn on Thursday, October 22nd in Brevard County.
As stated by troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol, eyewitnesses reported seeing two motorcycle riders stopped for a red light at the intersection of Catalina Isle Drive and Courtenay Parkway at about 4:00 p.m. Both riders then traveled along Courtenay Parkway after the light changed and ultimately collided with a sedan that was making a lefthand turn into a parking lot.
Emergency medical personnel on the scene reported that one of the bikers, a 22-year-old male from Jacksonville, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other motorcyclist was transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital, reportedly in critical condition.
Both men were wearing their helmets at the time the accident occurred.
The driver of the sedan, a 61-year-old woman, sustained injuries that were classified as non-life-threatening.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
