Melbourne, FL (May 18, 2020) – Around 10 p.m. last night, May 17, the Florida Highway Patrol reported that one person was killed in a fatal three-vehicle crash on I-95.
At the time, a 40-year-old man from Rockledge was driving his SUV on the Interstate when he was unable to slow down in time, causing his SUV to strike the rear of a van.
The van went off the side of the road and overturned while the SUV remained in the travel lane. A sedan was not able to stop and slammed into the back of the SUV. As a result, the SUV caught on fire.
The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The other drivers were reportedly not injured.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
