Geneva, FL (October 26, 2020) – Around 7:50 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, a woman was killed in a pedestrian accident involving a deputy in Geneva.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident took place on Snow Hill Road around the area of Winding River Lane. A 28-year-old Sanford female deputy was driving her marked police SUV headed south on Snow Hill Road when it struck a pedestrian.
Police confirmed that the SUV’s lights and sirens were not activated at the time. The pedestrian and her boyfriend were riding bikes in the area when they came to a stop and got off of their bikes. The woman was standing on the road and holding onto her bike when she was struck.
The deputy got out of her vehicle and gave CPR to the adult female until other deputies arrived at the scene. However, she was pronounced dead before being taken to the hospital.
Snow Hill Road was closed in all lanes following the accident for some time.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
