Webster, FL (September 28, 2020) – Around 11 p.m. on Saturday night, September 26, a fatal truck accident occurred in Webster.
The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that the collision occurred at the intersection of FL-471 and FL-50. The crash occurred when a 27-year-old man from Tampa was driving his SUV headed north when he tried to pass a slower vehicle in front of him. For reasons that are not yet known, the SUV collided with a semi-truck head-on.
Due to the force of the collision, the SUV shot onto the eastbound shoulder where it overturned onto its driver’s side.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, though his identity is not yet known.
The driver of the semi-truck remained at the scene and was treated for minor injuries.
The intersection was closed in the area for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released but police continue their investigation into the accident.
