Pedestrian Accidents in Florida
Hit-and-run accidents are at their highest in Florida, and pedestrian accidents are also more common here than many other states. In fact, according to recent statistics, Florida had the third-highest rate of fatalities caused by pedestrian accidents in the U.S. In 2013, approximately 476 pedestrians lost their lives, which means that about 20% of pedestrian fatalities took place in Florida alone than any other state. Because pedestrians have no protection from harm, they are more likely to sustain some of the most catastrophic and even fatal injuries in the event of an accident. If a driver flees the scene after an accident, a pedestrian is more likely to be left with severe injuries and no medical attention for a period of time, which can be extremely detrimental to their health.
