Lake County, FL - Calvin Landers Among Victims of Head-On Car Accident

Lake County, FL (July 4, 2020) – A man and his fiancee died in head-on crash in Lake County on Thursday, July 2nd. The crash happened in the westbound lanes of State Road 50.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office reports that 49-year-old James Joiner was driving a pickup truck in the wrong direction on State Road 50. Joiner was traveling approximately 70 mph in a 50 mph zone. His vehicle nearly struck one car before colliding head-on with a Honda Accord driven by Calvin Landers. Landers and his fiance were inside the Accord at the time of the crash. Both Landers and his fiance were killed in the accident.

Following an investigation, Joiner was charged with two counts of vehicular homicide. An investigation is ongoing.
