Daytona Beach, FL – Fatal Five-Vehicle Collision on FL-400

Daytona Beach, FL (August 2, 2020) – Around 10 a.m. on Friday morning, July 31, a fatal three-vehicle collision in Daytona Beach.

The accident initially took place when a sedan and tractor-trailer were headed west on FL-400. The sedan did not stay in its lane and drove into the center, which is when the sedan and truck collided with one another.

The sedan then collided with a cable barrier and drove into the eastbound lanes of FL-400 where it struck two other vehicles and another tractor-trailer. The vehicles involved were badly damaged as a result of the accident.

One of the drivers involved in the accident was identified as a 37-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. The passenger in that vehicle was hospitalized but later died after being taken to the hospital.

The roadway was closed in both directions until 3 p.m.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the accident continues.
